Today’s London explosions

My own digestive problems pale in comparison with the 7 blasts which occurred in Central London this morning. There are few accurate reports on casualties at the moment. WL is OK (he called me).

The problem is that the PM and Home Secretary will use this attack as an excuse to push the ID card scheme and other laws designed to reduce everyone’s civil liberties, in the name of protecting the UK from attack. People who oppose them will be labelled as pro-terrorist and we will all be subjected to a police state in the name of protection.

It’s sickenning that such a hideous tragedy could be so exploited, but I expect you’re correct.

Of course, had they routed out al Queda rather than attacked Iraq, this may well not have happened.

    I’m so glad you’re okay.

Have you heard from Dr Fitchy?

I have posted that you’re here in soc.motss by the way

Relieved to know that you and HWMBO are safe!

Thanks for dropping a line so we know you’re ok, sweetums.
    Boy oh boy, this stinks.

Dr Fitchy and I do not speak (just between you and me and the lamppost: he’s on my kill file list and was in fact the first denizen thereof). I do hope he’s not been caught up in this, of course.

  5. phornax says:

He replied into soc.motss as safe.

Wow.. for a moment, I thought you were speaking about the U.S.

I hope you Brits stand firm and not let your government walk all over you, like ours has tried to do to us.

  7. ruth_lawrence says:

He has now posted, of course.

  8. chrishansenhome says:

Thanks for telling me; I would have no way of knowing, of course, unless someone replied. I haven’t been to soc.motss since early evening Thursday.

Oh, Labour is ten times more power-hungry than the Tories, and has much less regard for civil liberties (in a Socialist state, who has or needs them?). I am afraid that in the weeks and months to come, we will be subjected to the most severe police state that has ever existed in a Western country.

He’s quite different in person, small and sweet. At least with honourary-lesbians 🙂

    You’re welcome, anyhoo!

  11. ruth_lawrence says:

From what I’ve seen they won’t get away with that.

After all, there was the IRA stuuf, and the Irish-Brits weren’t all locked up, were they?

  12. besskeloid says:

    Socialist?

    Ha!

  13. chrishansenhome says:

Well, normally I’d agree with you, but remember, all these people have, in the dim, dark, pre-1997 past, been singing the Red Flag and calling for the nationalists of all means of economic production. And Gordon Brown and John Prescott are still lurking around the government, seeking someone to devour…
