Today’s Dodgy Politician URL

It seems that Senator Larry Craig, Idaho (R), has pleaded guilty to some dodgy conduct in a restroom Minneapolis St. Paul’s airport. You can guess what that conduct might be. Craig, who is 62 years old and married with children, is on holiday and not commenting. Who knew that the first gay senator would be a Republican?

What is it with restroom laws? Why can’t the poor guy have some fun in a rest room and be left alone in peace?

Oh, I agree with you, in part. I’m not keen on cottaging, but I think it’s probably not harming anyone.

The important fact here is that the guy is married, with grown-up children and grandchildren, and is soliciting in a men’s restroom for sex with another man. It’s all confused. I gather his homo/bisexuality has been an open Washington secret for years. What about bringing home STDs or HIV as a gift to his wife? What about the fact that his positions on the issues have been consistently anti-gay (he voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, for example) while he himself has been cruising for cock?

  3. keith_london says:

Hehe – well, the modern lifestyle appears to see more and more married men “cruising for cock” (as you aptly described it) as an easy-fix option for a quick “relief”. Apart from the “STD” possibility, everyone is happy, it seems to me. The wife never need know, and after all, it’s not as if there’s “another woman”. 🙂

I suspect the wife has known all along. In fact, she certainly knows now, if she didn’t before.

I value honesty in a politician–I’m not often able to say that a politician lives up to that. This particular one, luckily, doesn’t represent me.

I know what you mean. I haven’t gone through the details, but he seems quite honest in the sense that when caught, he actually owned up! (unlike a certain past president).

  6. chrishansenhome says:

Simply a pragmatist: he was caught red-cocked…er..red-handed. This is not honesty, it’s “I’ll-plead-guilty-in-the-hope-that-I’ll-escape-being-jailed-with-all-those-hot-thugs-with-huge-cocks-in-the-State-Prison”

    Another one bites the dust!

Interestingly enough, he’s from Idaho (who da ho’? — Hey, who you callin’ a ho’? ;-), and the Governor of Idaho is none other than “Butch” Otter, who used to be a Congresscritter himself.

    Coincidence?

  9. chrishansenhome says:

I don’t think that dust is what is wanted to bite…

  10. chrishansenhome says:

I’m a bit confused. Looked at Mr. Butch Otter’s entry in Wikipedia, and nothing seemed to jump out as being connected with Sen. Tearoom…er…Cottaging…er…Craig.

  11. mango_king says:

Oh, amen to that! That republican was after some kielbasa. 🙂

  12. bigmacbear says:

I don’t think there’s any direct connection between the Senator and the Governor other than the state they hail from — unless, of course, something happened when the Governor was a Congresscritter, which we don’t know about yet — but as I’ve observed (along with other motssketeers) it’s amusing that the Governor’s nickname (“Butch” Otter) happens to also be a description of a certain variety of gay man.

OIC. Thanks for the explanation: I’ve been getting fairly dim lately.
