    In other news, do you think it curious that a musical tour of Europe would choose “And did those feet in ancient times” as the representative song for England? (The corresponding songs for Ireland and Scotland are “The Rocky Road to Dublin” and “Donald, Where’s Yer Trousers?” respectively.)

    Well, not really. It is probably the most popular “English” song in existence. As all the other countries in the United Kingdom have an anthem, “Jerusalem” (it’s formal name, in the Parry arrangement) has been proposed as the National Anthem of England. It’s also a powerful anti-establishment and anti-capitalist setting of Blake’s poem.

    As for “Donald, Where’s Yer Trousers?”, I have never heard it and I hope I never do!
