I have a VPN proxy…

… and I have a question about it. Is there any way to “install” it on my router rather than on my computer? That way I could use my internet radio on stations in the USA which bar reception outside of the US. Currently I use it on my computer by clicking on the icon and letting it start up. “Install” might not be the right word…

I’m not very bright about such things, but if I could do that it would be an advantage for me.

So basically you want to VPN to your HOME setup and then out to the net?

It is possible. There are routers that will do that, but they ain’t cheap. (Mine cost me about $200.)

The other problem is that your ISP may block the ports needed rendering your VPN useless. (Like mine did.)

If you really want to go that route, you can leave a computer running at home, travel with a laptop and using “Hamachi” which will let you connect up to your home machine, then you can use Remote Desktop or some such.

I think for what you wanna do, Hamachi is your best bet. I haven’t used it, but it sounds like it’ll do exactly what you want. 🙂

Thanks so much for your advice. I don’t think that BT blocks those ports, as I can VPN from my computer.

What should I be looking for in routers when I examine their specs? I’m happy to pay $200 (or
