Odd week so far…

Had dinner with my friend (and soon-to-be Lodge brother) Nadeem last night. We ate at Kiasu, the Singaporean restaurant at Bayswater. Had Hainanese Chicken Rice and Gado-gado as an appetiser. Very nice, and it was good to catch up with him.

Today I got a hard drive for my larger laptop, 250 GB, and installed Fedora 10 Linux on in to see what all the fuss was about. Compared to Ubuntu, Fedora is slow, clunky, and complicated. It also doesn’t have items such as OpenOffice as part of the distro. I suppose I will be able to download it from someone and install it, but WTF anyway? It would be simple to put it in the distro file. I will probably overwrite it with Ubuntu in a day or two, once I’ve finished bashing the heck out of it.

I love me that smooth jazz, BTW. Keeps me sane sometimes. Other times I like electronica and such. That also keeps me sane at other times.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the Kings foot clinic. While there is a spot where the blister was, I expect it’s just something trapped in the skin and will be cut out by the podiatrist’s scalpel. In the evening we are going out to dinner with D and P. I worked for D when I was stationed at Morgan Stanley, and P is his Chinese partner. They are a great couple and lots of fun to be with. Of course, as they live around Bayswater, we are going to…(wait for it) Kiasu. I love it so it won’t be an imposition at all.

I need to do some studying for my Practitioner’s exam in Software Test Management, which is coming up next Friday. I hope that it will be OK. I’ve re-read the course notebook but haven’t tried either of the two mock exam questions. Will have to do that soon.
