I suspect the ax will finally fall on Monday

I have just been called by my boss and invited to a meeting with the manager of the department on Monday. I suspect that this is going to be the ax falling. I am not too upset about being made redundant, if that’s what happens, as we will not starve nor will we lose our home. I’ve had good experiences in previous situations where I have been made redundant. However, it’s always a pain in the neck to try to find work. I will start calling my acquaintances now and see what’s happening.

The best reason for remaining out of debt and saving up is redundancy.

Now, of course, I have four days to stew about this. Never a good thing.

Ugh. I do hope they are calling the meeting for another reason!

Thanks muchly. The only bright spots are that (1) I am underutilised at the moment so the freedom to go and find contract work would be welcome, and (2) financially I’m in better shape than many of the poor souls who are losing their jobs today.

Do your suspicions usually turn out accurate?

Because I also hope the meeting was meant for another reason too… future projects??

Someone else also suggested this. From what my boss said to me, I think it’s unlikely. However, I look on whatever happens as an opportunity rather than an ending. My employer is not a very good one–not evil, just incompetent. Thus, being free of it would allow me to branch out into other things.

Thanks for your kind words. As I said to , i’m looking on it as an opportunity (whatever happens). Bring in a good position financially also helps.
