Expect a bus tomorrow and one comes today…

We are all aware of that old rule of thumb which says that you wait 30 minutes for a bus, then 3 come at once. Well, I’ve had just the opposite happen here at home.

I’m off to a meeting later on this afternoon. Yesterday I filled out an application for a renewal US passport, seeing that it would cost

No, sadly. If he brings my new passport in a few weeks I’ll try to have a camera handy.

Most of that is the attorney’s fee. There is a fee for doing it (I think), but it’s fairly small. It is so complicated these days (you need to provide lots of financial information and if you have lots of money, you need to pay capital gains taxes on it before they’ll let you do it) that you really need a lawyer to make sense of it all.

If I’d done it when I first became British it would have been free and no taxes payable. Some twit renounced his citizenship and then boasted it was for tax reasons, so the US Government took out its rage on everyone else, rich or poor, who wanted to renounce citizenship. The Man Without A Country is a story that resonates in the minds of some of these dimwit legislators.

You have a few weeks notice. Have a video recorder ready, amongst other things.
