It’s about 53-1/2 years too late, but my birth announcements will finally go out. When my father died we went through the stuff in his bedroom and found, among other things, my birth announcement cards. Some actually had a 3-cent stamp on them (but were never mailed–God only knows why). They are in my mother’s handwriting. So, without further ado, here I am!

ive never heard of that being done in quite that way. ive gotten pictures from friends who had children and what not. but that card gives me an idea. of course my first kid will be nicknamed “practice baby” and the card will say the same.
When I was a child (duh! me) it was the done thing. Pictures were expensive to duplicate and often the cards got sent out very early. So, no pictures, just a card with the salient facts. Sometimes the pictures got put on Christmas cards.
I also have some of the congratulation cards my parents got in reply. I’ll be scanning them too. There’s no escape!
wow those are the cutest. i ain’t have none of that. the only thing that was saved from my birth was a lock of hair. even my birth cert had to be replaced ‘cuz nobody knows what happened to it. lol.
I’ve got my original birth certificate, my original baptismal certificate, and the bills for my delivery. Some of this stuff will make its way onto my blog or my website.
I cost $85.83 to deliver, including a week’s stay in the hospital.
They did it cheap in those days.
